Letter: Inflation's cause
Normally Mr. Cook's letters to the editor are very cogent, but his last one looked like it was taken from the AOC handbook. If you honestly think that a bunch of children rioting in the Capitol caused inflation, you must believe that Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny are alive and real.
According to the late great economist Milton Friedman, "inflation is too much money chasing too few goods." In the last 50 or so years, we have had two surges of disastrous inflation. In the late '70s inflation reached 13.5% and today it is hovering between 8% and 9%. On both these occasions, the Democrats controlled the House, Senate and the executive branch. Notice the similarities?
The last one was the Democrats throwing money at the COVID Pandemic in order to "cure" it. Didn't work then and won't work now. Government has to quit throwing money at situations it doesn't understand.
