Letter: Question judgment of big campaign donors

Now that the midterm elections are over and the Republicans got thrashed in Illinois and soundly embarrassed across the country, our faith should (almost) be restored in humankind. That said, I think it's time to take a look at Richard Uihlein, Uline [Industries] and the Uihlein families heavily funded "People who play by the rules PAC."

The Uihleins spent (and wasted) in the neighborhood of roughly $100 million dollars supporting right wing extremists not only in Illinois, but across the country. In this great nation, it is of course their right to spend their money or believe anyway they wish. However, the deceit and outright lies by some of their supported candidates, not the least of which were those hilarious "newspapers" that got the Daily Herald's wrist slapped, would cause me to question their business practices.

If the Uihleins would lie about something potentially affecting our democracy, what does it say about their business practices as a whole?
