Police investigate report of shots fired at Yorktown Center

Police are investigating a report of shots fired in the parking area southeast of Lombard's Yorktown Center Friday.

Officers responded to the scene near the mall's eastern ring road at about 3 p.m. Friday, Lombard officials said in a message to residents.

There was no threat to the public, Lombard officials said, and because police were conducting an active investigation no details were available on what happened.

A Yorktown Center spokesperson on Friday referred to the reported shooting as an "isolated incident in the parking areas near ring road."

Operations at the mall continued uninterrupted Friday, according to a mall spokesman.
