Glenbard North Theatre to tell the story of 'The Women of Lockerbie'

Glenbard North's Theatre program will present "The Women of Lockerbie" by Debroah Brevoort on Thursday to Saturday, Nov. 10-12.

Performances begin at 7:30 p.m. in the Little Theatre at Glenbard North, 990 N. Kuhn Road in Carol Stream.

According to Dramatists Play Service, "A mother from New Jersey roams the hills of Lockerbie, Scotland, looking for her son's remains that were lost in the crash of Pan Am 103. She meets the women of Lockerbie, who are fighting the U.S. government to obtain the clothing of the victims found in the plane's wreckage. The women, determined to convert an act of hatred into an act of love, want to wash the clothes of the dead and return them to the victim's families.

"The Women of Lockerbie" is loosely inspired by a true story, although the characters and situations in the play are purely fictional. Written in the structure of a Greek tragedy, it is a poetic drama about the triumph of love over hate.

The cast includes Jared Arens, Olivia King, Kaylee Harrison, Addison Gwaltney, Leana Lott, Isaiah Bostwick and Lauren C. McHenry.

Student leaders include Nina Falco, Roxanne Bakir, Kaia Melendez, Zach Lazzara, Brody Hill, Emiliano Rivas III, Gail Creighton, Chelsea Perez, Charlotte Prusko, Nelson Nguyen, Grace Caputo, Lauren C. McHenry, Megan Garcia, Kellie Kieu, Alyssa Passero, Kate Orozco and Kaylee Hammer.

The play is directed by Marissa Talarico, and Nathan King is serving as the technical director and coordinating lights and scenery. Madison Gillis supervises costumes and publicity. Jolaine Orlin manages the props and sound crews.
