Windy City Bulls cruise past Motor City; Jones scores 27

The Windy City Bulls, the NBA G League affiliate of the Chicago Bulls, beat the Motor City Cruise 125-109 Monday night at Wayne State Fieldhouse. Windy City guard Carlik Jones led all scorers with 27 points after shooting 12-for-17 from the field.

Windy City's backcourt came out of the gates on fire. Jones scored 16 first-half points on 8-for-11 shooting, while Ethan Thompson wasn't far behind with 15 points heading into halftime.

As a team, the Bulls led the Cruise 34-25 after the opening period and extended the lead to 15 points heading into half. The Bulls shot 56.8% from the field in the first half, while holding the Cruise to 38.1% shooting.

The Cruise made a short 11-3 run in the third quarter. However, the Bulls quickly fired back their own 8-0 run. Windy City gained its largest lead of the game -- 27 points -- with five minutes left in the third quarter.

The win was a team effort as the Bulls had six players score in double figures. Thompson finished with 22 points, shooting 8-for-13 from the field. Guard Chris Clemons Chipped in 18 points and eight rebounds off the bench. Forward Henri Drell knocked down three of his four three-pointers, ending with 17 points to go along with nine rebounds.

Chicago Bulls Two-Way forward Kostas Antetokounmpo finished with 15 points, Chicago Bulls Assignment center Marko Simonovic scored 10 points and grabbed seven rebounds.

Motor City was led by center Stanley Umude who finished with 25 points and guard Jules Bernard with 19 points.

With the victory, Windy City improved to 2-1 on the season, while Motor City fell to 0-2.
