Letter: Report on Pelosi attack showed writers' bias
The article published in last Sunday's Daily Herald written by reporters from The Washington Post is shameful. They were equating all Republicans with this violent individual who somehow mysteriously snuck by security at the Pelosi home, attacking Paul Pelsosi.
They stated that Republicans who have demonized progressive policies are now responsible for this heinous attack. Really? Maybe these reporters weren't around in June 2018 when Democrat Maxine Waters encouraged her supporters to confront Republican supporters at restaurants or in stores by "Pushing back on them. Tell them they aren't welcome anymore, anywhere."
She encouraged them to show no sympathy and to harass them. But she wasn't done. In April 2021 she told protesters: "Well, we gotta stay on the street," Waters said. "And we've got to get more active. We've got to get more confrontational. We've got to make sure that they know that we mean business." I could make the argument that her words culminated in the violent protests taking place throughout the country in 2021.
These reporters need to be fair and unbiased in their reporting. Both sides are guilty of demonizing the other side or anyone that disagrees with their position. Unfortunately, that is what politics has become in the United States. Short memories seem to run rampant among some media reporters.
