St. Charles Public Library names new director

After a nationwide search, the St. Charles Public Library board appointed Kate Buckson as library director, effective Monday.

"St. Charles has a wonderful new building and a fantastic staff," Buckson said. "I look forward to building strong and rewarding relationships with the staff, board and throughout the community."

Buckson said she plans to incorporate a creative and customer-oriented approach to align the library's services and resources with the community's needs. She has spent almost 20 years working in libraries, starting at the Westmont Public Library. For the past seven years, Buckson served as executive director of the La Grange Park Public Library District.
