Letter: Location is the issue, not development

Multiple comments have been made regarding the proposed Carpentersville Logistics Park at Binnie and Randall Road. To clarify, we are not against development or the warehouses or the trucking industry, but rather the placement of the project.

The project will butt up to homes that have been there years longer than when Carpentersville decided to come west of the river and annex property for homes. Why would Carpentersville want to harm their constituents that they worked so hard to entice to the West Side by building this monstrosity? They will be damaging people who have been in the area for more years than they have as well as their own voters.

As Mayor Chris Nelson of West Dundee says, the only people who will benefit are the developers and the Galvin family - neither of whom live in the area. I wonder how the people whose pensions will be used to finance this project feel about their money being used on a "ship that has sailed." The warehousing and transportation sectors have declined 10% as shopping attitudes have changed since coming out of the pandemic and with the feds increasing interest rates.

Kind of like all the strip malls that went up with no real tenants because the developers could build, make money and leave, and we're stuck with the vacant buildings. It is environmentally sensitive land with valuable wetlands on the property. It is a traffic nightmare on an already dangerous corner There are other options. This shouldn't be one.
