Letter: Not a 'yes man'
In your endorsement of Jeff Pripusich for Kane County treasurer, you mention both his and Chris Lauzen's credentials. You inform us that Jeff worked in corporate accounting for 37 years, including 25 in management, and has yet to serve in elected office. Chris is a Certified Public Accountant (and has an MBA, if you're interested), ran his family's accounting business, spent 20 years as a state senator and two terms as Kane County Board Chairman. Ah, but those two terms were "contentious," and included "public fights with fellow Republicans."
The solution to these "problems?" It sounds to me as though you're looking for an automaton for this position, someone who will tow the Democrat line, no matter what, no questions asked - a "yes man," as it were. It sounds to me as though you might believe that no Democrat ever made a mistake while serving.
I've got news for you: both Democrats and Republicans are human and liable to err at times. Isn't it our job, the electorate's, to keep them on the straight and narrow?
Well, I for one would rather have someone who questions everything in order to determine its relevance to the office he holds and to We, the People, even ideas presented by his own party. And, in my humble opinion, that sort of business attitude does not preclude "teamwork and collaboration." In fact, I think it can enhance both.
Still, you are free to endorse whomever you want. So are We, the People.
