Letter: Forest candidate will work for us
Jeff Gahris, current District 4 commissioner, is a tireless worker for us and the environment. I have known and volunteered with Mr. Gahris many times over the past 10 years working to restore and preserve our incredible Forest Preserves in DuPage County. Jeff rolls up his sleeves and pitches right in cutting down invasive plants and sowing native seeds to restore our forests.
As chairman of the local Sierra Club, River Prairie Group, Mr. Gahris drew on his past experience as an environmental engineer with the EPA for 30 years, Glen Ellyn Environmental Commissioner for 12 years and master's degree in environmental science to promote solar energy, lowering carbon emissions, and help monitor clean water and air for our environment.
As FPDDC commissioner, Mr. Gahris promoted solar panels to provide energy to our golf course, The Preserve at Oak Meadows, and fleet management building at Blackwell Forest Preserve. He has championed for the East Branch Trail and other trail networks.
We need people like him to look out for our interests in the future of our natural areas. I urge voters to make Jeff Gahris our commissioner again.
