Lombard to hold Veterans Day Ceremony Nov. 11
The community is invited to honor our military veterans by attending the 2022 Veterans Day Ceremony on Friday, Nov. 11, at the Sunken Garden.
The ceremony will begin at 11 a.m. in Lombard Common Park, Grace and Maple streets.
Lombard Village President Keith Giagnorio will welcome attendees and open the ceremony.
This year's keynote speaker will be Vietnam veteran Tom Zilla, who has lived in Lombard for over four decades.
Zilla served with the Army's First Corp Aviation Company as a Flight Operations Specialist and a Gunner on Huey helicopters. He is the former commander of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Lilac Post 5815.
Glenbard East High School student Linaea Walsh will perform "The Star-Spangled Banner" and "God Bless America."
Glenbard East buglers Allison Schmuldt and Brayden Smith will play the call to Assembly and Retreat.
In an effort to remember the extraordinary courage and commitment to freedom made by our veterans, Village President Giagnorio invites all residents, families and neighbors to attend. Residents interested in sitting during the brief ceremony are asked to bring lawn chairs.
In the event of inclement weather, the ceremony will move indoors to Lombard Village Hall, 255 E. Wilson Ave.
The village event is supported by Lilac VFW Post 5815 and American Legion Lombard Post 391.
