Letter: State rep stands up for families, safety
Mark Walker deserves your vote.
Mark is running for reelection to the Illinois House in District 53. He has consistently shown that he's standing up for working families and keeping our communities safe.
Mark knows everyone is struggling with inflation. That's why he voted to help families by cutting the grocery tax, freezing the gas tax and sending out payments for property tax and inflation relief. Meanwhile, his opponent Jack Vrett fought against lowering the income tax on working families and is being backed by superwealthy donors who don't care about us.
Mark supports keeping reproductive rights safe in Illinois and co-sponsored a bill to do just that, protecting us when Roe v. Wade was overturned. Jack Vrett is funded by extremist MAGA groups that want to criminalize abortion - even in cases of rape or incest.
Mark is a veteran who understands that military-style assault weapons and high-capacity magazines don't belong in a civil society. He supports tightening red flag laws to keep guns out of the hands of people who shouldn't have them. Vrett is being backed by supporters of the NRA who want to make it even easier for anyone to get their hands on these dangerous weapons and easier to get them into our schools.
Rep. Walker has been working to rebuild Illinois. With his leadership, Illinois has had multiple balanced budgets, six credit upgrades and invested over $1 billion in our schools. Mark clearly wants what is best for us and I am proud to support him and proud of Illinois.
