Bricks from Elk Grove Bowl for sale at village hall
Pieces of Elk Grove Village history - bricks from the demolished Elk Grove Bowl - can now be purchased at village hall for $5.
Opened in 1962, the bowling alley at the southeast corner of Arlington Heights and Higgins roads closed in April when its third-generation owners decided to retire and the fourth generation wasn't interested in keeping it open.
The village bought the building, along with the surrounding shopping center, and is planning to redevelop the site to create a re-envisioned gateway into Elk Grove Village.
Those interested in purchasing bricks can go to the finance department at village hall, 901 Wellington Ave. Proceeds from the brick sales will be allocated directly to Elk Grove Village Cares, a community-based approach which helps connect those suffering from opioid addiction to treatment programs. Bricks will be sold until they run out.
