Bulls Dosunmu, Drummond sidelined for game vs. Philadelphia

The Bulls got Zach LaVine back, as expected, for Saturday's game against Philadelphia, but were without Ayo Dosunmu and Andre Drummond.

LaVine didn't play in Friday's loss at San Antonio as part of his injury management plan. He's not expected to play in both legs of back-to-back games early this season after having arthroscopic knee surgery in May.

But Dosunmu was shaken up in Friday's game when he slipped and hit his head on another player's knee. He was checked for a concussion and cleared, coach Billy Donovan said.

"He saw the doctor when the hit took place and they totally cleared him to play so it's not that," Donovan said before Saturday's game. "He's just got discomfort in his neck and upper back, and just a real hard time mobility-wise turning and moving his neck."

Drummond hit the floor hard a couple of times in San Antonio, but returned to the game. He produced 17 points and 14 rebounds in 23 minutes.

"Certainly the way he fell, at least the noise on the floor, he's a big guy going down like that," Donovan said. "I took him out and he kind of grabbed me and said he was doing OK, he said he could play. I trusted him, he knows his body better than anybody.

"Right now it's a shoulder sprain and we're fortunate there was nothing more than that, so I'd imagine a few days. It's not something the medical guys seem too concerned about. But his range of motion, at least right now, is not great."

Drummond got the nod down the stretch in the fourth quarter instead of Nikola Vucevic, and Donovan said that was just based on Drummond's production.
