Hoffman Estates public works hosts open house, pumpkin smash Nov. 5

The village of Hoffman Estates' Public Works Department will host its annual open house from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, Nov. 5 at the Public Works Center, 2305 Pembroke Ave.

Guests of all ages can tour the facility to learn about the skills, tools and equipment used to maintain Hoffman Estates' infrastructure.

The free event includes live demonstrations and interactive displays. Light refreshments, giveaways and raffle items also will be offered while supplies last.

Public works employees also will be smashing and composting pumpkins and jack-o'-lanterns at the event to promote sustainability in a fun and exciting way. Remove candles and other decorations in advance. For more information, call (847) 490-6800 or email publicworks@vohe.org.
