One-issue strategy is not working

These days people worry about many things: wars and violent crime around the world, rising costs of everything from housing to gas to bread, poor options for good medical care and public schools, human trafficking and drug smuggling, mental illness and substance abuse, corruption at every level of government and business, the erosion of freedom of speech and religion, etc., etc., etc.

But if you watch the endless political ads in the news these days, you would think the one and only thing anyone thinks about is "reproductive rights." Abortion, abortion, abortion. Please stop shouting your abortion. No one wants to talk about abortion, or rape, or incest; all grave evils which should be unthinkable in loving, life-giving families and communities. As Pope Francis said, "abortion is like hiring a hit man to resolve a problem."

Politicians, your one-issue strategy isn't working, unless your goal is to maintain this culture of death. Are you afraid if you address the many problems people are facing today, you have no solutions to offer? Most would agree this country has not been moving in the right direction lately.

It seems to me the choice is clear and ours to make: Vote for good leaders who will work to build a culture of life for all.
