Audition for 'Matilda' set for Oct. 22-23 in Naperville
Magical Starlight Theatre, a program of the Naperville Park District, will hold auditions for its January 2023 musical, "Matilda," on Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 22-23, at the Alfred Rubin Riverwalk Community Center, 305 W. Jackson Ave.
"The musical is based on the beloved children's book by Roald Dahl with a whimsical magic element that will be delightful to bring to life onstage," said Artistic Director Emily Walker. "The story shows how one good teacher can make all the difference in a child's life."
Lead and supporting roles are available for youth in fourth grade or higher and for adults of all ages and a strong ensemble cast also will be needed. Auditions for youth under age 16 are from 1 to 2:30 p.m. and auditions for actors age 16 and older are 2:30 to 4 p.m. both days.
No time reservations are needed; those auditioning will be grouped as they arrive. Call backs, if necessary, will be held on Monday, Oct. 24 at 7 p.m.
Youth and adults are asked to prepare a specific vocal piece from "Matilda" based on the role for which they are auditioning. Vocal audition music is available at www.magicalstarlight.org/auditions/ and an accompanist will be provided at the audition.
Additionally, there is a general movement audition, a dance audition and cold reading from the script.
Performances are scheduled on Jan. 13-15 and 20-22, 2023 and all are mandatory for the cast. Rehearsals are scheduled for Sunday afternoons and Tuesday and Thursday evenings.
