Letter: Critical eye valuable in talks with Bears
I was delighted to read that Arlington Heights Village Trustee Jim Tinaglia is looking at the Bears' plans to develop the Arlington Park property with a critical eye. And some intelligence and foresight, unlike the mayor and other trustees. Do we need a project that threatens the vitality of and eventually supplants our downtown? Or one that creatively supplements not just the downtown area, but the community as a whole?
The Bears have not been known for creative play-calling on the football field, so it is no surprise to many of us longtime residents that their development plans for what could be a dynamic and thoughtful addition to Arlington Heights are so banal and shortsighted. Kudos to Trustee Tinaglia.
And hopefully the collaboration between Arlington Heights and the Chicago Bears can redirect itself to something unique and exciting, not something that impacts the character of our town in money-grubbing and negative ways.
