Police: Lake Forest High School students could face charges after incidents on campus

Students may face charges after two incidents on the Lake Forest High School campus last week, according to a letter to parents from Lake Forest High School Principal Erin B. Lenart.

On Oct. 6, an unspent bullet was found in the Lake Forest High School Library, the letter said. Authorities said that on Oct. 11, a student came forward with knowledge of the bullet's origins.

The following weekend on Oct. 8, an evacuation map was defaced with threatening and hateful imagery and language, the letter said.

Authorities said that three students involved with the graffiti were interviewed by the administration to ensure there was no immediate threat to the school.

"Subjects in both incidents have now been identified and will be referred to the Robert W. Depke Juvenile Detention Center to determine appropriate juvenile charges," said Lake Forest Deputy Chief of Police Robert Copeland.

The incidents still remain under investigation by police and school officials.
