Former Des Plaines man repeatedly raped child, authorities say
A former Des Plaines man is facing charges he sexually assaulted a child over three years, authorities announced Friday.
Mitchell House, 40, who police said now is homeless, was arrested Thursday in Chicago. He's charged with two counts of predatory criminal sexual assault of a child and two counts of criminal sexual assault.
Prosecutors said House repeatedly raped the victim, now 14, starting when she was 12 and gave her money and other gifts to discourage her from telling anyone.
House's bail was set Friday at $350,000. He is next scheduled to appear in the Skokie branch of Cook County circuit court on Oct. 14.
