Bail set at $250,000 for 73-year-old Aurora woman accused of attempted murder via arson

Bail was set at $250,000 Tuesday for Joanne J. Burgess, an Aurora woman charged with attempted murder and aggravated arson.

Burgess, 73, is accused of setting her house on fire Saturday to kill a man, according to Aurora police. The man was injured but refused to be taken to a hospital for treatment, authorities said.

Her next court date is Thursday in front of Kane County Judge Salvatore LoPiccolo
