36 shell casings in Buffalo Grove parking lots, but no gunshot victims found so far

Buffalo Grove police continue to investigate a shooting late Friday that left dozens of spent shell casings in the parking lots outside a bowling alley but apparently no injuries.

"We are talking to anyone that would be a witness of the incident," Deputy Chief Michael Szos said Monday. "When we arrived, there was no one in the parking lot, but we talked to the employees (of the bowling alley). And so that's where we're starting our investigation."

According to police, officers responded at 10:30 p.m. Friday to a report of shots fired at the Town Center shopping center on the 300 block of McHenry Road. About 36 shell casings were found in surrounding parking lots, and a vehicle was struck by two shots, village sources said.

Police contacted area hospitals, but there were no reports of gunshot victims seeking treatment, officials said.

Szos said rumors circulating on social media linking the shooting to gang activity have not been substantiated at this time.

Police are asking anyone with additional information to call police at (847) 459-2560.
