Batavia woman dies after being hit by SUV in Geneva

A 55-year-old Batavia woman has died after being hit by an SUV Wednesday night in Geneva.
She was crossing the street at 6:48 p.m. when she was hit on State Street east of Sandholm Street by a westbound Hyundai Kona driven by a 30-year-old Geneva woman. The pedestrian was near the center turn lane on the five-lane street.
The woman's name was not released, pending notification of relatives.
The driver was not injured and is cooperating with the investigation. She has received a ticket charging her with failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.
The Kane County Accident Reconstruction Team is investigating the crash.
