Letter: Kane should oppose act
The Daily Herald reported Tuesday that Kane County is considering a tax increase to cover raises for workers as well as their participation in the Safe-T Act.
My suggestion would be to join McHenry, Will and Grundy counties to sue to stop our participation in the Safe-T Act. The more you look into this, the less appealing it becomes. Chicago has had 68 felons out of jail this year commit more felonies.
In addition, our cost is $3 million to fully get it up to speed, and maintain it. Save the $3 mil and stop the talk of more tax increases. The pandemic and the amount of inflation that we are currently suffering through has hurt working families enough.
This is not the time to do this, and shame on Gov. Pritzker for bowing to pressure from outside groups to push this through in the middle of the night at the end of the session in 2021.
