Pakistan Physicians Society Providing Care and Hope Devastating Floods in Pakistan
The Pakistan-Descent Physicians Society is working with government, civilian volunteers, and partners, including Health Services, to deliver health care in affected areas in Pakistan. They are contributing to mitigating the impact of disasters through their humanitarian assistance program during the deadly floods in Pakistan.PPS provides lifesaving medical and other emergency supplies for children and women affected by the floods. The declaration was announced by Dr Asif Syed, President of the PPS on Annual Meeting.
More than 600 Chicago area public health advocates joined to honor their Chicago's area Healthcare Professionals on Saturday, Sept. 17, at the grand ballroom of Doubletree by Hilton Hotel Chicago - Oak Brook.
The Pakistan-Descent Physicians Society held an annual gala dinner, where members, supporters, and dignitaries from across the state come together. The Pakistan Physicians Society (PPS) of Illinois is a part and local chapter of the Association of Pakistani Physicians of North America (APPNA).
The meeting features cutting edge research from physician across the country. The agenda includes keynote speeches in addition to medical experts, sponsor conferences, presentation of past and upcoming project dinners.
The event was attended by Consul General Pakistan Tariq Karim, elected official's president of the Cook County Board of Commissioners Toni Preckwinkle, Jonathan Jackson, candidates Democratic for U.S. House Illinois District 1 and others.
Dr Asif Syed, current president of the PPS, gave his speech and highlighted the achievements and report of the Pakistan Physician Society for the current and past year. Dr. Arain presented the PPS clinic report, Dr. Tariq Butt provided an update on the international medical graduate process and Dr. Tehmina presented the financial report.
Speaking on the occasion, the Consul General appreciated the contribution of PPS for their charitable and capacity-building work over the years, both in the US and Pakistan, including during the COVID-19 pandemic. He encouraged the Pakistani American community and professionals to continue to play their active role in the socio-economic development of the two countries, especially through the exchange of ideas, expertise, and technology. The Consul General also discusses the current flood situation in Pakistan and appeals to all Pakistani American to Support the relief effort who have fallen victim to the severe crisis in Pakistan.
The President of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Dr Arif Alvi, shared his video message of appreciation for all health workers and the Pakistan Physician Society. He said, "I am appreciating the exemplary role and services of the Pakistani-Descent Physicians Society as the frontline soldiers against the Corona epidemic in Pakistan and USA." He further said that all available resources will be utilized to ensure the safety and security of the people of Pakistan and doctors and healthcare. Physicians are our heroes.
The Pakistan Physician Society honors more than 20 health professionals working on the front lines to defend human rights during Pandemic.
Dr. Rafat H. Ansari was the Keynote speaker, during his keynote address, he outlined the goal, purpose, and mission of physicians.
Lifetime achievement and humanitarian awards were presented to several doctors and Physicians. Those who had proven in his field and achieved the goal of humanity also participate in medical relief and other charitable activities in Pakistan and the state of Illinois. physicians and individuals who were awarded are Dr Aftab Khan, PPS Gold Medal, Dr Sohail Khan PPS visionary award, Dr Tariq Butt PPS lifetime achievement award, Dr Kashif Ahmad, Excellence in Academics award, Dr Arif Agha, Dr Imtiaz Arain, Dr Waseem Kaghzi, Syed Khalil Ullah, Ansar Rizvi, Rana Javed, Dr Shahid Ahsan, Mrs. Sobia, Dr Naveed Bari, Dr Riaz Akhtar, Mr. Javed Khattak, Mr. Zeeshan Ahmed and Mr. Asad Bajwa
Scrumptious dinner and an elaborate dessert were served to all. Comedy Entertainment was performed by famous Pakistani Legendary Anwar Maqsood from Pakistan.
In the end Dr. Asif thanked PPS EC, BOT, and Alliance especially Mrs. Sobia Katariwala, Mrs. Fauzia Faiz, Dr. Sohail Khan, and PPS members to make this event a huge success.
