Two in custody after shot fired outside Gurnee library

Two juveniles are in custody after a shot was fired Monday afternoon outside the Warren-Newport Public Library, Gurnee police said Tuesday.

At 3:36 p.m., police were called to reports of a fight at the library, 224 N. O'Plaine Road.

Witnesses reported that multiple juveniles were involved in a fight in the library parking lot.

Authorities said one juvenile pulled a gun and fired a round, causing all involved to flee before police arrived. No one was injured.

Two juveniles were taken into custody later that evening and charged with firearm possession and discharge, authorities said.
