Naperville seeking student representatives for city boards and commissions

Naperville Mayor Steve Chirico and the city council are seeking student representatives to serve on its boards and commissions, and participate in a Leadership Academy offered through KidsMatter.

According to city officials, 25 positions are available among numerous boards and commissions, including the Financial Advisory Board, Historic Preservation Commission, Human Rights and Fair Housing Commission, Naper Settlement Museum Board, Naperville Public Library Board of Trustees, Planning and Zoning Commission, Public Utilities Advisory Board, Riverwalk Commission, Sister Cities Commission, Special Events and Cultural Amenities Commission and Transportation Advisory Board.

Students must live in Naperville. While high school seniors are preferred, any high school students may apply. Students who previously served on a board or commission must apply again.

Information about the boards and commissions can be found at Naperville.il.us/boards. The deadline to apply is Sept. 30.
