Letter: Explore benefits of Medicaid managed care
My family and I have proudly called Illinois home for the last 37 years. We have enjoyed watching the state grow, and have been fortunate enough to give back to the community over the years. My family is passionate about giving back, and I'm particularly focused on health equity.
That is why I write today to express the critical need to uplift the benefits of Medicaid managed care. Medicaid managed care provides access to world-class health care for our most vulnerable neighbors. We know that social barriers, poor health, lack of access to nutritious food, and expensive housing can push families against the ropes forcing poor decisions out of desperation.
With Medicaid managed care, the pathway to good health is much clearer. Medicaid managed care gives access to doctors for routine visits, preventive services, and even nutrition and housing assistance when you need them. But managed care goes beyond the typical health benefits by providing a more holistic approach to care. For example, it addresses barriers, such as the need for transportation to doctor's visits and even the need for heating/air conditioning units.
I encourage everyone to explore how Medicaid managed care can provide access to quality health care and lead to more positive outcomes for our most vulnerable communities.
