Cork named to board of the Boys & Girls Club of Elgin

SCHAUMBURG - Pulse Technology branch manager Brandon Cork of Broadview has been named to the board of directors of the Boys and Girls Club of Elgin.

A native of Gary, Indiana, Cork has been part of many volunteer and community activities through his career, including work with Habitat for Humanity, Illinois Action of Children, AID (Association for Individual Development) and Sojourner Truth's House in Gary.

He also helped lead a Pulse team of 12 that volunteered with the Northern Illinois Food Bank to help prepare 3,600 meals for the underserved.

The Elgin club traces its history to 1993, following discussions between the city of Elgin and the Elgin Police Department, who sought a solution of escalating drug and gang problems. The club staff and board members quickly realized the need for the community's youth to have a safe after-school place. The club, with support of community and foundations, embarked on a capital campaign to raise funds to support construction of a 15,000-square-foot facility. The club now serves multiple communities and more than 2,000 youths per year.

"It's a great honor to serve on the board of this organization," Cork said. "We appreciate the good work that the Boys & Girls Club does to help students in our region. They make a real difference in many lives."
