New volunteer open house Sept. 12 at Aurora Food Pantry

The Aurora Area Interfaith Food Pantry is hosting its first quarterly new volunteer open house.

On Monday, Sept. 12, from noon to 1 p.m., community members can learn about volunteering opportunities at the food pantry located on 1110 Jericho Road, Aurora! There will be a short tour followed by a Q & A and light refreshments.

All attendees will be entered into a raffle drawing for a free Meal Prep Basket! For more information, please visit https://www.aurorafoodpantry.org/event/new-volunteer-open-house/.

The Aurora Food Pantry hopes by implementing a new quarterly Volunteer Open House to draw new volunteers during a crucial time of need. The rising number of people using their services creates a greater need of volunteers.

Anyone age 14+ can volunteer to help with sorting food donations, preparing grocery boxes, assisting with distribution, helping with special programs/events and working in the garden. Volunteers are welcome on a daily, weekly, or monthly basis and the pantry offers flexible hours and schedules.

High school students in need of volunteer hours are welcome. Businesses looking for volunteer opportunities for their employees are encouraged to attend this open house as well.

Founded in 1981, Aurora Area Interfaith Food Pantry operates one of the largest food pantries in northern Illinois. The mission of Aurora Food Pantry is to help end local hunger by ensuring that everyone has access to enough nourishing food, thereby helping the overall community stay healthy and productive.
