Highland Park police reports

The following were submitted by the Highland Park Police Department. Charges are only accusations; suspects are innocent until proven guilty.

Aug. 22

• THEFT: 9:33 a.m.

Three packages reported delivered by Amazon on 8/21/22 at 3 p.m. were stolen from outside of a business on the 1500 block of Old Skokie Road. The estimated value of the items was $150.

RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY: 3:41 p.m.

Officers responded to the 3000 block of Centennial Lane for a report of a burglary. An unknown suspect described as a heavyset male, wearing a brown bandanna covering his face, dark sunglasses, a black long sleeve shirt, black overalls, and an unknown lanyard around his neck, approached the front door of the residence and stated the water supply was contaminated with bacteria. After entering the home and turning the water on to distract the residents, two unknown male suspects entered the residence and stole jewelry and a watch. All three suspects left the scene in a Gray SUV with dealer license plates.

RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY: 4:25 p.m.

Officers responded to the 1000 block of Marion Avenue for a report of a burglary. Between 2 p.m. and 4:30 p.m., an unknown person(s) forced entry to a residence through a sliding-glass door, ransacked the master bedroom, walk in closet, and stole jewelry and cash. The value of the stolen items is unknown.

Aug. 23

RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY: 6:43 p.m.

Around 4 p.m., a Silver SUV with dealer license plates backed in the driveway of a residence in the 1300 block of Sherwood Road. Between 11:50 a.m. and 6:30 p.m., an unknown person(s) forced entry through a rear door, ransacked the master bedroom, walk in closet, and bathroom. An unknown amount of jewelry was stolen.

Aug. 25

RETAIL THEFT: 6:18 p.m.

A delayed report was received of a theft from the Target., 2099 Skokie Valley Road. On 8/18/22 at 8:58 p.m., an unknown suspect entered the store, filled a cart with various amounts of groceries and over the counter medications, exited the store without paying for the items, and left in a brown older model Jeep. The suspect was described as a white man in his 30s, with medium build, long brown hair, wearing a black hat, white T-shirt, jeans, orange shoes, and had a star tattoo on his left inner elbow. The estimated value of the stolen items was $1189.61.
