This article has been clarified to reflect the crash occured as the teen tried to flee a traffic stop, not during a chase

A 17 year-old boy was arrested Friday after he fled police and crashed into a neighborhood sign, the Bartlett Police Department said Wednesday.

At 10:30 p.m. Friday, officers saw 2021 Tesla T3 traveling 35 miles over the speed limit on westbound Lake Street near Route 59, authorities said.

Police said the teen, whom they did not identify, tried to flee before losing control of the Tesla and crashing into a subdivision sign near Monarch Drive and Lake Street.

The teen was treated at a hospital for injuries that were not life-threatening.

Police cited the teen for aggravated speeding, fleeing or attempting to elude a peace officer, no valid driver's license and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, authorities said.

He was released on $2,500 bond with a Sept. 30 court date.
