St. Charles to hold virtual strategic plan visioning workshop Sept. 7

If you couldn't make it to the recent Community Visioning Workshop for the strategic plan, the city of St. Charles is holding a second workshop, which will be virtual.

It will be 7 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 7, via Zoom.

This virtual meeting will be conducted similarly to the in-person session, complete with small break out groups to facilitate interaction and discussion.

"Thank you to all who came out to the recent in-person workshop," said Economic Development Director Derek Conley. "Attendees participated in a lively discussion and it was great to hear their feedback on what they feel should be the priorities for the city over the next five years. Holding a virtual session offers another opportunity for residents to weigh in on the issues that are important to them."

City Administrator Heather McGuire acknowledges the benefits of virtual meetings.

"Virtual meetings make it easier for some residents to participate. People today have busy schedules. Whatever the city can do to reach as many residents as possible so they can be a part of the strategic planning process, is a plus. For this reason, we also are adding a virtual option to the upcoming community forum in October."

The community forum will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 19, both virtually and in-person in the city council chambers, 2 E. Main St. Note the new location for the Oct. 17 meeting.

It will give residents a first look at an initial draft of the strategic plan and offer an opportunity for their feedback.

If you're planning to come to the in-person Oct. 19 workshop, RSVP to rsvp@stcharlesil.gov or (630) 762-7097. For a Zoom link, go to berrydunn.zoom.us/j/9054116517.

The city is updating its five-year strategic plan which will serve as a road map, guiding decisions about the city's future. The strategic plan will incorporate feedback from the community and key stakeholders, establish the city's vision, and align city goals, priorities, and budgets over the next five years.
