Elgin Izaak Walton League celebrating 100 years with Aug. 28 ice cream social
The Izaak Walton League of America will celebrate the organization's 100th year of conservations efforts on Sunday, Aug. 28, in Elgin.
The league was founded in Chicago in 1922 to promote natural resource protection and outdoor recreation. The Elgin chapter of the Ikes will host an ice cream social from 1 to 3 p.m. Aug. 28, at the Hanover Township Izaak Walton Center, 899 Jay St., Elgin. Homemade pies, cakes and hand-dipped ice cream will be served. There also will be a raffle for prizes.
