Driver who struck hydrant had medical emergency, Palatine police say

A Naperville man was taken to the hospital for a medical emergency Wednesday after striking a fire hydrant in Palatine, according to the Palatine Police Department.

Authorities responded to the crash at 11:48 a.m. in the area of Walden Drive.

A 66 year-old man was visiting a friend when he hit the fire hydrant, according to authorities.

Authorities said the man had a history of medical issues and was taken to Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Heights for evaluation.

The crash is still under investigation.
