Fake municipal worker, accomplice burglarize Des Plaines home
A thief posing as a Des Plaines municipal worker distracted a local woman while a partner stole jewelry out of the home on Monday, police said.
The ruse burglary occurred about 7:30 p.m. on the 1700 block of Pratt Avenue, according to police.
The impostor told the resident that a water issue needed to be checked. While they were in the kitchen, a second thief ransacked rooms in the house.
The thieves left together in an SUV, police said. They were described as being heavy, and one was wearing a mask, police said.
