Coroner: Antioch man likely died of natural causes before SUV vs. tree crash
The 72-year-old Antioch man found dead after a one-vehicle crash Wednesday morning likely died of natural causes before the crash, officials said Thursday.
The man, whose identity has not been released yet by officials, was found dead around 10:30 a.m. after the 2019 Chevrolet Tahoe he was driving struck a tree in the yard of a home on the 40600 block of Route 83, Lake County sheriff's officials said Wednesday.
A preliminary investigation shows the Tahoe was traveling south on Route 83 when it left the road heading east and struck a tree in the front yard of a home, Lake County sheriff's Deputy Chief Chris Covelli said Wednesday.
Lake County coroner's Chief Deputy Steve Newton said an autopsy performed Thursday shows the man likely died from natural causes before the crash.
Newton said the man's identity is being withheld until officials are able to contact his family.
