Letter: Biking and federal funds

If you had $100 million, what would you do? Our local leaders have that choice with federal transportation funding. They are leaning toward adding nearly 300 miles of lanes to our region's expressways and arterial streets. If you think filling the gaps in our regional trail network and adding protected bike lanes that could takes thousands of cars off our congested highways just by biking to work is a better idea, contact the Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning (Google CMAP) to let them know. The rest of the world along with major USA cities are biking to work every day. How long is your commute? An e-bike makes a 10-mile commute in half an hour many of our days in the year. Ask for safe bicycling for work and pleasure. It is there for asking. Choose a new way.
