Monarch Landing celebrates 16th anniversary and resident appreciation activities
Monarch Landing senior living community in Naperville showed its appreciation for its residents and its 16th anniversary during a full week of celebratory events.
"The residents do so much for the community. They take an active role in a lot of what we do here," said Margaret Scanlon-Dalke, life enrichment manager. "The residents are the inspiration behind our programming, they welcome and mentor new residents, and they make Monarch Landing special. We are glad to have taken the time to show them our appreciation."
The week started on July 25 with an outdoor Pooch Parade of therapy dogs, brought by Pawsitive Therapy Troupe, followed by a happy hour with live musical entertainment by student pianist/violinist Mimi Wang.
Residents then had the opportunity to view the film "The Incredible Journey of the Butterflies."
On July 26, Naperville Mayor Steve Chirico addressed the residents as part of Monarch Landing's Political and Community Awareness committee. July 27th featured a Cheeseburgers in Paradise party with a sliders buffet, margarita bar, and live musical entertainment by the Jimmy Buffet tribute band, Peach's Beaches. On July 28, an open house for residents allowed them to view Monarch Landing's Treasure Chest resale shop, wood and hobby shop, model railroad room, library, and MLTV (in-house) television room. On July 29, Monarch Landing held a flower arranging class with Morton Arboretum Guild member Lyn Tietz, followed by a class car show, provided by Residential Hospice.
"It was a perfect week," Margaret said. "Everyone was excited, the weather was beautiful, and it was a wonderful celebration of our residents and our community."
