Annual Gurnee Days a mixed bag of good fun

The Gurnee Park District and the village of Gurnee are collaborating to bring Gurnee Days to the public Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 6 and 7.

See classic cars, trucks, and motorcycles at Gurnee Days' annual Car and Motorcycle Show from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday. The festival will also include a free, all ages Community Art Show both days, Ribfest and rib-eating contest Saturday, and fireworks Saturday.

Food vendors will be available from noon to 10 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday.

Scheduled musical performances will include Ethan Bell, Ax & the Hatchetmen and Modern Day Romeos on Saturday.

Most events will take place in Viking Park, 4374 Old Grand Ave., Gurnee.

Off-site events include open houses at the Gurnee Police Department on O'Plaine Road, Public Works on Kilbourne Road, Fire Station No. 1 and Mother Rudd House; and a golf tournament at Heather Ridge Golf Course.

The Gurnee Days 5K and 10K Fun Runs and 2-Mile Fun Walk will take place Saturday at Hunt Club Park, 900 N. Hunt Club Road, Gurnee.

The 2022 Gurnee Days Parade will take place at noon Sunday, with the theme "Life's a Zoo!" The parade route begins at North Greenleaf Street, continues west on Old Grand Avenue and ends at Emerald Avenue.
