Woman killed in crash near Elk Grove Village

A woman died after being struck by a vehicle Monday afternoon near Elk Grove Village, according to the Cook County sheriff's office.

Sheriff's deputies responded to Touhy Avenue near Higgins Road about 1:40 p.m. Authorities said the woman was taken to the hospital, where she died of her injuries.

The crash is still under investigation. No additional details were available Tuesday night.
