Letter: We're not safe enough to give up 2nd Amendment

In recent articles and commentary there is a call to repeal and replace the Second Amendment. While I can sympathize with the grieving families I don't think we're at a point of abolishing this amendment. After experiencing the devastating effects of the "mostly peaceful" protests of 2020 I am sadly reminded that it is up to the citizens to be able to defend themselves.

Both law enforcement and our National Guard could not be counted on to defend us or our properties.

Until they can, we need the type of weapon that can control "mostly peaceful" mobs. Also, with 40,000 vehicular deaths a year, why aren't we concerned about the automotive lobby?
