Palatine Jaycees Seek Grant Applications

The Palatine Jaycees is accepting grant and partnership requests to benefit Palatine area community organizations.

Each spring or summer, the Palatine Jaycees use their profits from the previous year's Hometown Fest to support the Palatine area community through direct grants to organizations helping people in need. The Jaycees are seeking applications from local organizations that serve Palatine area residents through their Community Grants Partnership Program. Interested organizations can submit their applications at palatinejaycees.org/community-grants.

Project Chair, Nathaniel Groh stated, "This year the Palatine Jaycees are expanding on our traditional grants program by adding what I am calling the three M's: Money, Manpower and Minds. Money, is our traditional grant offerings, Manpower will bring Jaycee members to help staff and execute partner/applying organization events, and Minds will give new/applying organizations an opportunity to tap into the knowledge and expertise of the Palatine Jaycees' veteran activist network."

Grant applications are due Aug. 18, 2022, and decisions will be made and applying organizations notified on or before Sept. 19, 2022.

Previous organizations that received a portion of the annual grant money were High School District 211 Foundation/Realtors Against Homelessness, OMNI Youth Services, JOURNEYS | The Road Home, Escorted Transportation Services Northwest, St. Joseph's Home, Little Sisters of the Poor, Amita Health Alexian Brothers Center for Mental Health, and Partners for Our Communities.

Project Co-Chair Ryan McGaughey said, "I am thankful to the community who supports our projects so that we are able to raise funds and give back to the community in projects like this."

A committee of Jaycee members will decide on the fund allocation this year based on internal criteria. Last year the committee reviewed over 20 applications, and this year they hope to see just as many.

The Palatine Chapter of the Jaycees, one of 50 local chapters throughout Illinois, has more than 100 members and is one of the largest chapters in Illinois. The Jaycees provide individuals between the age of 21 and 40 the opportunity to develop personal and leadership skills while serving their community and have been recognized statewide, nationally and internationally for their efforts.

The Palatine chapter holds its monthly general meeting at 7:30 p.m. on the third Thursday of the month at Arlington Lanes in Arlington Heights.
