Letter: Commend justices for righting a wrong

Kudos to Stephen J. Gohmann of Huntley who called out the Daily Herald editorial board for proclaiming those justices who ruled to overturn Roe as "rogues." So much for being an objective newspaper.

The six justices who ruled in favor of the Mississippi law in the Dobbs v. Jackson Women's Health case that effectively overturned Roe, should be commended for their courage to right a wrong. The only "rogue" justices were the ones in 1973 that ruled that a woman has a right to choose whether to kill her unborn child - erroneously crafted as a "constitutional" right.

This court finally saw that argument for what it is - baloney. Nowhere in the U.S. constitution does it specifically say a woman has a right to determine if her child should live or not. If anything, the Roe decision went against the due process clauses of the 5th and 14th amendments - both of which state: "No person shall be deprived of life, liberty or property without due process of law." This applies to both the state and federal levels.

As a newspaper which claims "to tell the truth," your editorial board failed in this case.
