Hoffer Plastics has been named 2021's Business of the Year by the South Elgin Economic Development Council.

The custom injection molding company, located at 500 N Collins St., was founded in 1953 by Bob and Helen Hoffer and now employs more than 350 people in their 365,000-square-foot facility where they produce more than three billion plastic parts annually.

"It is an honor to be recognized for our commitment to the well-being of the South Elgin community," Chief Financial Officer Gretchen Hoffer Farb said in a news release. "From job creation to early education to fostering the next generation of manufacturing leaders, our focus on these important initiatives will remain unwavering."

The South Elgin Economic Development Council, which is funded in part by the village of South Elgin, works to facilitate local economic development and awards businesses for their local support.
