Letter: Maybe we need a new approach to get results
I have done all the fine suggestions for changes in gun laws for 20 years. Yep, 20 years. This country needs to understand why changes are not progressing.
ou know the adage, "If you keep doing the same thing over and over expecting a different result, you are an idiot." Not quite as crudely written but you get the message. For 20 years I have gone into representatives' offices and spoken directly to elected officials. Nothing has changed.
I started writing very eloquent, researched letters to every senator and house member. Nothing. I have even written governors and the attorney general of the U.S. Nothing.
We cannot keep doing the same thing over and over. These politicians have their own agendas which is not to address the elimination of guns. I have friends tell me they vote and vote and we never seem to get enough votes to oust these people holding our country hostage to their personal agendas.
So now my idea. We have to change our approach. Do I know the answer, No, but I do know I have to change my approach. So now I am writing my eloquent and researched letters to all the media spokespersons I trust. Yes, trust, who will not silence my concerns on guns. I urge each and everyone of you to write, call, contact all, All, all the media people you know who have a spotlight on the American people. Let them start reporting how our Senate and House and judicial systems are failing the American majority. Let's see if this approach gets a better response.
