Aurora man charged in mother's slaying to fight extradition from Wisconsin
An Aurora man suspected of stabbing his mother to death is fighting extradition from Wisconsin.
Abel Quinones-Herstad, of the 0-100 block of Jackson Place, appeared Sunday afternoon before Milwaukee County Judge Milton L. Childs, according to Wisconsin court records. Childs found there was probable cause for Quinones-Herstad's arrest.
He is charged with two counts of first-degree murder in the death of Edith Gonzalez-Alarcon, 55, of the 0-100 block of Jackson Place. Her body was found in her home Friday morning, after Aurora police received a call from Quinones-Herstad's brother saying Quinones-Herstad had shown up at the brother's Wisconsin home saying he had done something bad to their mother.
An autopsy performed Monday determined Gonzalez-Alarcon died of stab and cut wounds, the Kane County Coroner's Office said.
Wisconsin court records indicate Quinones-Herstad previously lived in Hartford, Wisconsin, and that he was charged in 2021 with misdemeanor disorderly conduct. The case remains open.
Quinones-Herstad, who turned 20 on Saturday, is scheduled to return to a Milwaukee County courtroom Aug. 16.
