Elk Grove Village Cares program gets $151,000 state grant
Elk Grove Village Cares, the village's program that helps those in need access substance abuse treatment programs, has received a $151,000 renewal grant from the Illinois Criminal Justice Information Authority.
The grant will allow the program to continue its work to help uninsured individuals seeking substance abuse treatment get help, officials say.
Since its inception in June 2018, Elk Grove Village Cares has served as an important link on the path to recovery for individuals in need, making 105 total connections to partnering treatment programs.
Under the initiative, anyone seeking treatment for their addiction can seek it through the Elk Grove Village Police Department without fear of arrest. Rather, police officers and counselors will connect individuals to nearby treatment
programs.
