Letter: Thankful Trump is out of the Oval
Now that we have moved forward from the previous disgraced and treasonous presidency, we supporters of democracy can focus less on scarcity and more on abundance. I am grateful for many things, even during this period of unrest and incivility.
I'm grateful to no longer have a fascist in the Oval. I'm grateful to no longer have a president who excludes half the constituents he was elected to serve, radicalizing the other half at regularly scheduled Feed My Starving Ego Self-Aggrandizement Rallies.
I'm grateful to have a current president, who although not perfect, doesn't pontificate, gloat and bloviate like a king, one who doesn't fire cabinet members who won't do his personal bidding.
I am grateful for a president who will know how to leave when his time as president is completed, rather than act like an angry retaliatory authoritarian because he lost.
I'm grateful for a president who doesn't suck all the oxygen, time, energy and money out of the room and focuses instead on the needs of the American people.
I'm really grateful to have a president who doesn't pay off porn stars during his marriage and isn't publicly quoted as saying that women are playthings that he can grab anytime he wants, regardless of their consent. I'm grateful to not have a president who supports the ability to easily acquire artillery rifles.
To conclude, I'm just grateful to no longer have a white nationalist, fascist, authoritarian, bigoted, biased, self-serving president. I always thought it was scary growing up watching George Wallace spread his hate. Having observed the cult leader of the previous disgraced administration, I get an idea of how it would have been if Wallace became president.
