Letter: Why do we tolerate illegal fireworks?

On the 4th of July, many folks in the Raintree Condominiums nearby were shooting off fireworks beginning around 8:30 or 9 p.m. My cocker spaniel was frantic. I gave him some "calming" treats which did nothing to stop his terror. This went on for hours.

By 1 a.m., hello. it is now July 5th. He was clawing me, trying to find somewhere to escape. He was climbing on furniture mindlessly. I was standing by my patio door, looking out, wishing for the storm to arrive. My wish was granted. Heavy winds appeared as if summoned by me and rain poured.

I am guessing other dog owners encountered similar experiences. Nice these folks can afford illegal fireworks while complaining about the cost of gas and food. Why are these illegal fireworks tolerated in Glen Ellyn and other communities.
